John 3:16 God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die.
Forgiveness brings love
Luke 7:47 So I tell you that all her sins are forgiven, and that is why she has shown great love. But anyone who has been forgiven for only a little will show only a little love.”
Forgiveness brings blessings
Rom 4:5 But you cannot make God accept you because of something you do. God accepts sinners only because they have faith in him.
Rom 4:6 In the Scriptures David talks about the blessings that come to people who are acceptable to God, even though they don’t do anything to deserve these blessings. David says,
Rom 4:7 “God blesses people whose sins are forgiven and whose evil deeds are forgotten.
Rom 4:8 The Lord blesses people whose sins are erased from his book.”
Forgiveness ministers to others
Luke 23:34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive these people! They don’t know what they’re doing.” While the crowd stood there watching Jesus, the soldiers gambled for his clothes. The leaders insulted him by saying, “He saved others. Now he should save himself, if he really is God’s chosen Messiah!”
(then the one on the cross was saved)
Forgiveness bears fruit
• keeps laws
Rom 2:13 God accepts those who obey his Law, but not those who simply hear it.
Rom 2:14 Some people naturally obey the Law’s commands, even though they don’t have the Law.
Rom 2:15 This proves that the conscience is like a law written in the human heart. And it will show whether we are forgiven or condemned,
Rom 2:16 when God appoints Jesus Christ to judge everyone’s secret thoughts, just as my message says.
• forgives others
Mat 6:14 If you forgive others for the wrongs they do to you, your Father in heaven will forgive you.
Mat 6:15 But if you don’t forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Mat 18:21 Peter came up to the Lord and asked, “How many times should I forgive someone who does something wrong to me? Is seven times enough?”
Mat 18:22 Jesus answered: Not just seven times, but seventy-seven times!
Luk 6:37 Jesus said: Don’t judge others, and God won’t judge you. Don’t be hard on others, and God won’t be hard on you. Forgive others, and God will forgive you.
Eph 4:31 Stop being bitter and angry and mad at others. Don’t yell at one another or curse each other or ever be rude.
Eph 4:32 Instead, be kind and merciful, and forgive others, just as God forgave you because of Christ.
